commissioned by St Paul’s K Street, Washington, DC

Written during the restrictions of the Covid-19 Pandemic, this mass setting is intended to be sung by TB soloists, TB choir, SA soloists, or SA choir. Both the choral and organ parts are quite demanding, though the Sanctus, Benedictus, and Angus Dei are somewhat more approachable than the Kyrie and Gloria. The piece uses a style modulation to transform the tumultuous and anxious music of the Kyrie and Gloria to the more prayerful Benedictus and Agnus Dei. Intended for liturgical use on Ascension Day, the Gregorian chants prescribed for the day are embedded throughout the work.
